Omi Osun Joni L. JoneS

Omi Osun Joni L. Jones is an artist/scholar and an Associate Professor in the African and African Diaspora Studies Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Her scholarship focuses on theatrical jazz, performance ethnography, Yoruba-based aesthetics, Black Feminisms, and building healthy cities.  Her recent performances include River See, sista docta Falling  (in Love and War), and Gathering Honey. She is a member of the Future Networks Think Tank at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, and is co-editor with Lisa L. Moore and Sharon Bridgforth of Experiments in a Jazz Aesthetic: Art, Activism, Academia, and the Austin Project (UT Press, 2010).
